World looking to India to meet global challenges through innovation: Bill Gates

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has said, the world is looking to India not just to solve its problems but to address global challenges through innovation. <br/><br/>Addressing Niti Aayog's lecture series on 'Transforming India' in New Delhi, Mr Gates said, government should be an enabler and a smart regulator to enable the private sector to deliver efficient services.<br/><br/> He said, technology is a key lever for transformation and strong innovation ecosystem needed to build products for the future. Mr Gates also hailed government's move to demonetise high-value denomination notes saying that it will help to move from shadow to a more transparent economy. <br/><br/>He said, in next few years India will become the most digitised economy, not only by size but also by percentages. The Microsoft founder said, digital transactions will enhance transparency and reduce leakage. <br/><br/>He said, with growing population there is need to solve malnutrition as well as address the challenge of climate change. Mr Gates said, Government of India's vision of doubling farmer income by 2022 can successfully address the malnutrition issue as it the initiative is expected to boost productivity. <br/><br/>He stressed on more use of technology in this regard. He also suggested to focus on technology innovation for sanitation. <br/>Bill Gates also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. During the meeting, they had discussions on various topics.
