World leaders condemn Taseer's assassination

World leaders condemned the brutal killing of governor of Pakistan's Punjab province Salmaan Taseer. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned the assassination of the governor of Pakistan's Punjab province calling it a blow to the country. Mr Ban called the governor a prominent leader whose death is a loss for Pakistan. British Foreign Minister William Hague said he was shocked by the assassination of the governor Salmaan Taseer adding that it was loss to the leadership of the country. The European Union's top diplomat has condemned the murder and urged Islamabad to track down and punish his killers. Pakistan People's Party leader and Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer was shot dead Tuesday by one of his guards who was angered by his opposition to the controversial blasphemy law. It was the first brazen political assassination since the gunning down of Benazir Bhutto in 2007.
