Today is World Health Day. The World Health Organization, WHO, who is celebrating its 63rd founding year has called for attention towards growing drug resistance in microbes due to wrong and irregular use of antibiotics. In a statement released in New Delhi today, the organization has said that misuse and poor access to the drugs continue to be the major component of the widespread inappropriate use of the antibiotics. It also stated that the organization is committed to reduce the misuse of anti-biotic which causes the microbes to become drug resistant. Several functions like painting competitions, slogan writing, awareness walks etc are being organised across the country to spread awareness about the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
