Today is World Habitat day. It is being observed across the globe to reflect on the state of affairs in cities and towns with a focus on the basic human right of adequate shelter. It also reminds the world of its collective responsibility for the habitat.

The theme this year is, 'Changing Cities, Building Opportunities'. Various programmes are being organised across the country to study the problems of rapid urbanisation and its impact on the environment.
