New Zealand stormed into the Cricket World Cup final for the first time. In a thrilling semi-final at Auckland today, they beat South Africa by 4 wickets. Chasing 298 for victory in 43 overs, the hosts overhauled the target on the second last ball of the final over. Grant Elliott, who top scored with an unbeaten 84, hit a six to take his team home. Corey Anderson also played a vaulable innings of 58. Earlier, Skipper Brendon McCullum made a 26-ball 59. Opting to bat first, South Africa posted 281, after rain reduced the game to 43 overs a side. The target for the Kiwis, via the Duckworth-Lewis method, was revised to 298 in 43 overs. Grant Elliott was adjudged man of the match. The second semi-final between defending champions India and Australia will be played on Thursday at Sydney. The final is slated for Sunday at Melbourne.
