World Cup: Bangladesh win by 27 runs

Ireland, chasing a target of 206 runs set by Bangladesh, failed to win the match and lost to host. Bangladesh win the match by 27 runs at the Sher -E-Bangla Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka. Earlier winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat first and were bowled out by Ireland out for 205 runs in 49.2 overs. Opener Tamim Iqbal cracked a flurry of boundaries to take the hosts to forty nine in just five overs. But Ireland struck in the sixth over with Imrul Kayes being stumped when he was on 12. Junaid Siddique who came in was run out for just three runs and this was followed by Andre Botha picking up the big wicket of Tamim Iqbal who was on 44. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan also failed to live up to the expectations of the fans being caught and bowled by Andre Botha for just 16 runs leaving the hosts tottering at 86 for four.Mushfiqur Rahim and Roquibul Hassan then stabilised the Bangladesh innings but this did not last long as Mushfiquir was caught off a George Dockrell delivery with 147 runs on the board for Bangladesh. Experienced campaigner Mohammed Ashraful who sat out during the match against India took to the field today but was back in the pavilion after just scoring a run. The Irish bowlers then wrapped up the tail-enders in quick succession to restrict the hosts to just 205 runs.Andre Botha picked up three wickets while Trent Johnston and George Dockrell claimed two wickets each.
