May Day or the International Labour Day is Being celebrated today world over. Srilanka, will hold its first May Day celebrations after the end of war with LTTE. President Mahinda Rajpaksha said on this ocassion that now as the war is over our focus is on the country and its working people. In South africa, President Jacob Zuma will address a rally in Duban marking the interantional labour day. Big rallies are being held in four cities of the country. In Turkey, May Day will be celebrated for the first time in 32 years with people gathering up in the historical Taskim square. May Day celebrations have been banned by the Government since 1978 after 30 people were killed at a May Day gatehering in 1977. In United States Of America, on May Day, rights groups are planning to carry out marches in various cities to protest against the new anti-immigration law.In Russia, thousands of people prepared to rally across Moscow to mark the day. Around 40,000 demonstrators are expected in Moscow despite drizzle and overcast skies, and media reports put the nationwide total at around 1.7 million, from the Far East on the Pacific Ocean to the Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad. Russia's Communist Party, the country's second biggest party and large crowds of mostly pensioners are also expected to hoist red banners and march through the capital.
