Today is the earth day. The aim to celebrate the day is to save the mother earth from the global warming and climatic changes. Large number of awareness programmes are being organised throughout the world to mark the day. World Earth Day was conceived by United States Senator, Gaylord Nelson in 1970 and it is celebrated in most parts of the world.<br/> <br/>In India, schools and educational institutions organise awareness programmes and events. Environmental organisations and non-profit organisations too conduct workshops and seminars to promote this major event. " <br/> <br/>Ministry of Environment and Forests, in partnership with the Nehru Memorial Museum, is organizing events in New Delhi to Celebrate the Earth Day 2010. <br/> <br/>The event will see hundreds of teachers and students participating in various activities like nature walks, bird watching, biodiversity mapping etc. on Thursday. <br/> <br/>World Wildlife Fund will also organize nature walks for children in 14 cities of India. <br/> <br/>According to Karuna Singh, Director of the Earth Day Network in India, this is the first time that Earth Day Network is organizing activities in India on such a large scale<br/> <br/>Quoting environmental experts AIR Bhuj correspondent reports that the deposition of seven billion metric tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere due to human activities every year is causing serious threat to the ecological balance. <br/> <br/>Since the beginning of the industrial revolution Carbon Dioxide, a green house gas linked to the climatic change into the atmosphere has increased by 35 per cent. <br/> <br/>Despite natural emission of Carbon Dioxide emitted by volcanos, human activities are adding seven billion metric tonnes of Carbon into the atmosphere every year. <br/> <br/>Agricultural and biodiversity are already being impacted by the global warming. 10 per cent of all known plant species are under threat of extinction. To save mother planet save trees and conserve water.<br/><br/>
