Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were on the surface, ex-fighter pilot Collins remained in lunar orbit, where he was in touch with ground control, providing them s on his position. </span><br />” <br />” <span style="color: #222222;">An event watched on television by half a billion people.
