Commonwealth Games gold-medalist Manoj Kumar has entered the pre-quarterfinals of the light welterweight division (64kg) in the World Boxing Championships. At Baku in Azerbaijan on Sunday, Manoj advanced in the 64 kg category with a sensational 19-7 upset win over European champion and fourth seed Raymond Moylette of Ireland. Joining Majoj in the next round from the Indian camp was Asian Games silver-medalist Dinesh Kumar in the light heavyweight (81kg) category. However, it was curtains for Suranjoy Singh as he was ousted following a second-round loss in the 52 kg division. The Indian lost 14-17 to ninth seeded Mongolian Nyambayer.
