The World Bank will provide 920 crore Rupees financial assistance to the West Bengal Government for strengthening Gram Panchayets in the state. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) to this effort was signed among Central, State Governments and World Bank in presence of State Panchayet and Rural Development Minister Mr. Anisur Rahaman in Kolkata today. The World Bank will provide the credit over 5 years through its International Development Association. Later, Mr. Rahaman told newsman that 1 thousands Gram Panchayets in 9 districts of the state will be benefited by this project. Under the project the infrastructural facilities of Gram Panchayets and its services to the rural people will be increased.
