World Bank to provide Rs 300 million aid for Northern Sri Lanka schools

<br/>The World Bank will provide 300 million rupees to the Northern Province in Sri Lanka to support its on going projects in schools.<br/><br/>Under the World Bank funds, major works such as repairing and reconstructing damaged schools, purchasing computers, constructing labs and setting up a training centre for teachers in Vavuniya South will commence shortly.<br/><br/>In addition, 30 Isuru schools are to be set up in the Northern Province.<br/><br/>Two hundred schools, out of 484, have been identified for setting up computer labs in the initial stag. <br/><br/>The Province has already received 33 million rupees and this is distributed among over 1000 schools within the province to conduct the specially designed quality improvement programme.<br/><br/>Free season tickets have been approved by the Sri Lankan Cabinet for teachers to travel from Vavuniya and Jaffna to their schools in Kilinochchi, Thunukkai, Madhu and Mulankavil.<br/>
