World Bank to provide grant for poverty alleviation in Nepal

The World Bank and Government of Nepal have signed a grant agreement of seventy -five million US dollars in additional financing for the Poverty Alleviation Fund in Kathmandu today. The assistance package comprises of sixty-five million dollars in grant from the International Development Association and ten million dollars in grant from the Global Food Price Response Program Multi-donor trust fund.According to the World Bank the Poverty Alleviation Fund has helped improve living conditions, livelihoods and empowerment among the rural poor, particularly those who are disadvantaged due to gender, caste, ethnicity or physical isolation.
