The World Bank has pledged 41 million US dollars approximately 2.94 billion nepali rupees for financing the implementation of Kabeli Transmission Project and Strengthening Regional Cooperation for Wildlife Protection in Asia Project. The agreements were signed by Nepal’s Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Banskota and World Bank Country Director for Nepal Susan Goldmark in Kathmandu yesterday. The Kabeli Transmission Project in Eastern Nepal is to construct a 132 kv transmission line from Kabeli bazaar in Panchthar district to Damak in Jhapa districtand sub-stations to be built in four towns .It has been identified as a priority in Nepal government’s Electricity management plan . The Strengthening Regional Co-operation for wildlife protection in Asia is a regional project that will address the cross-border illegal wildlife trade through regional cooperation and capacity building. . The project will support Nepal’s initiatives at habitat protection and management for wildlife for in general and particularly tigers.
