World Bank President urges donors to keep their pledges on Haiti

The President of the World Bank Robert Zoelick has urged the international donors to make good on their pledges to help rebuild Haiti. Mr Zoelick said many promises have been made to provide support for Haiti's reconstruction but turning these into reality is now urgent. Mr Zoelick was speaking as Brazil became the first country to pay into Haiti's reconstruction fund. He reprimanded those nations who have not yet paid their share of the ten billion dollars pledge. There was also a warning for the Haitian Government as the World Bank President stressed there should be proper oversight to make sure that the money would not be lost through corruption.
