The World Bank President has described India as a global player and a rising economic power. Mr. Robert Zoellick who will meet the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during his stay in the country said in New Delhi that India's high level growth is helping the International economy to recover from the effects of the global economic meltdown. India achieved 7.4 percent growth in 2009-10 and 8.9 in the first half of current fiscal. According to a World Bank press release, Mr. Zoellick will also meet the Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee and the Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahulawalia. His discussions with the Prime Minister and other leaders are expected to focus on cooperation on global issues including preparations for the upcoming G-20. He will also sign agreements for two new projects in the road and disaster management sectors and is also scheduled to meet captains of Industry, self employed women's association and water experts.
