World Bank President calls on Jayalalithaa; enquires about projects implemented by TN

The President of the World Bank Dr.Jim Yong Kim called on the Tamilnadu Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalithaa at the State Secretariat and enquired of the various projects implemented by the State Government with the financial assistance of the World Bank.In a press release on Monday, the State Government told that Tamilnadu continues to be a favoured destination for external aid agencies which has been mutually beneficial.Projects like the Tamilnadu Integrated Nutrition project, Tamilnadu Urban development Project – I and II, Tamilnadu Road Sector Project I, Tamilnadu Health Systems Project have been taken up with the World Bank Assistance. Ms. Jayalalithaa appealed to the World Bank to increase the funding to 500 million US dollars considering that the State contribution will be much higher. The President of the World Bank complimented the Chief Minister on her varied and successful career in public service. Ms. Jayalalithaa told that it was a matter of pride that the bank had chosen Chennai as the biggest destination out of Washington in the US.
