World Bank approves fund for Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Project in Punjab

Keeping in view the ever increasing problem of contaminated drinking water in villages of Punjab and to give relief from the water related illnesses to villagers, State government with the help of World Bank, has approved more than 1280 crore rupees Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project. Under this project, clean drinking water will be made available in all the villages of the state and the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project will be implemented in a time bound period. This was disclosed by the National Trainer of World Bank Project, Ashok Kumar while addressing the inaugural session of a two day workshop on implementing Swap Mode in Jalandhar and Kapurthala, at Circuit House in Jalandhar, on Thursday. The World Bank Project is running under Swap Mode according to which clean drinking water, 70 liters per day per person, is being provided in villages. Sixteen villages have been covered under this project in Jalandhar and 19 in Kapurthala. More are being included.
