World Bank announces $500m for horn of Africa

The World Bank has announced plans to provide more than 500 million dollars to relieve the crisis in the horn of Africa at an emergency summit takes place in Rome. The meeting has been hosted by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation the FAO. The Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has appealed for 1.6 billion dollars to pay for emergency food aid in famine areas. Donors have been sought both among governments and NGOs to alleviate hunger among desperate populations in the horn of Africa.
