World Badminton Championships: India's Ajay Jayaram beat Netherland's Mark Caljouw

In the Badminton World Championship at Glasgow today, India's Ajay Jayaram beat Netherland's Mark Caljouw in men's singles to advance to the pre-quarterfinals. He defeated Caljouw 21-13, 21-18. The men's singles match between India's Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Parveen Jordan of Indonesia is now in progress. In other Men's singles matches Jayaram will take today on two-time defending champion Chinese Chen Long. Kidambi Srikanth will take on Anders Antonsen of Denmark. Sai Praneeth will clash with Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan. The Women's singles match between N. Sikki Reddy and Debby Susanto of Indoneasia is now in progress. P. V. Sindhu will take on Cheung Ngan Yi of Hong Kong. Saina Nehwal will clash with Sung Ji Hyun of South Korea. Earlier, in men's singles event, India's Sameer Verma lost to Rajiv Ouseph 20-22, 9-21 In the Women's singles, National champion Rituparna Das also lost to Kirsty Gilmour 16-21, 13-21. The women's doubles pair of Sanjana Santosh and Arathi Sara Sunil also bowed out with a 14-21 15-21 loss to Chinese combination of Bao Yixin and Yu Xiaohan.
