Today is World Autism Awareness Day. Autism is a complex developmental disorder that typically appears during the first three years of life of a child and is the result of a neurological disorder. It affects a person's ability to communicate and develop social relationships and is often accompanied by extreme behavioural challenges. The United Nations had declared April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day in 2007 and the first World Autism Awareness Day was observed in April 2008. Various events like screening of documentaries, panel discussions, workshops, art exhibition, painting competitions and street plays are being organised to spread awareness about autism and how to deal with it.
