World Athletics Championships: Usain Bolt fails to finish his last race

In World Athletics Championships, sprint superstar Usain Bolt could not finish the last race of his illustrious career in London last night. The World Record holder, Bolt, was on tracks in the 4×100 meters Final, anchoring one last time for his country Jamaica. As soon as he took the baton, he cramped up and stumbled on the tracks. Bolt was lifted off by his team mates as he limped his way back to the halls, ending his career on such a low. The event was won by hosts Great Britain, who clocked 37.47 seconds. The British team came from behind to get past the US, the other favourites, as with a time of 37.52 seconds finished second and third came Japan with 38.04 seconds.Another shocking farewell was that of Mo Farah the greatest distance runner, as he finished 2nd place in the 5000 meters event. It was battle between Ethiopians and Mo Farah in the last 2 laps of the race. Ethiopians cornered him and tactically sprinted, though the double Olympic distance champion showed some burst in the last lap but he couldn't take over Ethiopia's Muktar Edris, who won the Gold over Farah. In the Women's 100m hurdles, Australian Sally Pearson coming after three years from an injury gunned herself to finish line to win the Gold. Making her comeback the Australian won with a time of 12.59 seconds in a race which featured World Record holder. Her long-time rival Dawn Harper-Nelson from the US was second in 12.63 and Germany's Pamela Dutkiewicz claimed the bronze in 12.72.In Javelin throw Final, Davinder Singh Kang finished a disappointing 12th in the event. Kang, who has become the first Indian to have qualified for the final round in javelin throw in a World Championship, came up with a best throw of 80.02m in his third attempt to end 12th in a 13-man field. He began with a 75.40m and then fouled his second attempt before throwing 80.02 in his third throw. He was eliminated after three throws while the top eight continued the competition. Johannes Vetter of Germany won the gold with a best throw of 89.89m.Today is the last day of the World Athletics Championships and the medals tally is led by US with 9 Gold, 10 Silver and 8 Bronze, followed by Kenya with 3 Gold, One Silver and 4 Bronze and third is Poland with 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze.
