Workshop of UP, Uttrakhand nodal officers organized in Lucknow to implement third phase of Cable TV Digitisation

The ministry of Information and Broadcasting, to implement the third phase of Cable TV Digitisation, organised a day long workshop of nodal officers of UP and Uttrakhand in Lucknow today. Addressing the workshop the joint secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Ms. R Jaya said that the third phase is to be completed till December 31, 2015 ensuring total digitisation of cable TV broadcast in all the cities of the country. <br/><br/>Talking to AIR, she said that as per cable TV Act it is mandatory to carry 23 free to air DD channels and two channels of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TV by all the Master Subscriber Operators MSOs and Local Cable Operators LSOs. She said that it has also been taken care that the operators also carry the digital radio channels of All India Radio such as FM Gold and FM Rainbow so that listeners can enjoy the quality programmes aired by All India Radio along with getting the news bulletins and news updates.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the Cable TV Act provides necessary rights and remedies to the end users of cable TV who can demand and pay as per their choice of channels. Besides, the Act also ensures that no operator can run cable TV broadcast anywhere in the country without proper registration with the designated authorities. Program codes and advertisement norms are also to be followed according to the act.
