Government has set up a working group to look into the airline fare structure. The group has been asked to give suggestions for protecting consumer interest including disclosure of tariffs and condition of service. The panel headed by Director General Civil Aviation has also been assigned the task of examining existing passenger fares of all airlines. According to an official press release, the group has also been asked to identify the areas for promoting transparency in the sector and also given the mandate to study international best practices in disclosures by airlines. The group has been asked to submit its first report to the Civil Aviation Ministry by 30th of this month.
