Work resumes in govt offices in Telengana region as stir called off

In Andhra Pradesh, employees in the Telangana region joined their duties after a gap of 42 days. Normal work in various departments in the state government resumed this morning as the general strike was called off following an agreement between Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee and the state Government. About 4 lakh 20 thousand employees in the region were on Strike. The state Government has agreed to nine demands which include paying one month salary advance, withdrawing certain cases against employees and not to evoke Essential Services Maintenance Act for the strike period. The Government also made it clear that the statehood Issue was under the purview of the Central Government and the sentiments of the employees have been conveyed to it.
