Work on Chennai metro rail project progressing well

Work on the Chennai Metro Rail Project is progressing as per schedule and the elevated section between Koyambedu and St Thomas Mount is likely to open for traffic in three years time.<br/><br/>Briefing newsmen after a board of directors meeting of the Chennai Metro Rail, the Secretary Urban Development and chairman of the project Mr M.Ramachandran said 2000 crores is likely to spend during the current year. <br/><br/>He said in the first phase Chennai metro will run between Washermanpet and Chennai airport and the other line will be from central station to St Thomas Mount. Mr Ramchandran said Phase-1 of the project is scheduled for completion in 2015.<br/>
