<span style="color: #222222;">Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Dr. Jitendra Singh has said that the work on Banihal-Qazigund tunnel is about to complete and it will be dedicated to the people soon. AIR correspondent reports that in a tweet, Dr. Singh informed that the tunnel along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will be soon dedicated to the people.<br />'' <br />'' Worth to mention, the Banihal-Qazigund Tunnel is 8.5-kilometre long and is at an elevation of 1,790 meters and it is the only four-lane twin tube tunnel in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.<br />'' <br />'' Pertinently, the work on the double tube of Banihal-Qazigund tunnel along Jammu-Srinagar Highway is about to complete and it would likely be open for traffic in March.<br />'' <br />'' The work on 2,100-crore rupees project started in June 2011 by Navyuga Engineering Company and on completion would reduce the road distance between Banihal in Jammu province and Qazigund in South Kashmir by 16 km, from the present 35 km and will bypass Jawahar Tunnel and Shaitan Nalla, which is prone to heavy snowfall and slippery conditions during winter.</span>
