The work of providing tap water in rural areas is gaining momentum after the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission in Rajasthan. The total number of rural households having drinking water supply through taps has now crossed 21 lakh across the state.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #000000;">Before the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission, 11.74 lakh rural families in the state were getting water through tap connections. Since the launch of the mission in August 2019, more than 9.26 lakh rural families have been provided with tap connections. There are one crore one lakh 32 thousand families in the state. Out of which 21 lakh 989 families have been connected with drinking water supply through taps. The target is to connect 30 lakh families with tap connections in the current financial year. A total of 7,875 rural drinking water projects have been approved so far under this scheme. With this, tap connections will be available in more than 70.24 lakh houses in 27,597 villages. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, target has been set to connect all rural households with the facility of tap connections by 2024. As Rajasthan is facing many problems including acute ground water shortage and dispersed population, this scheme has proved to be a boon for the state.</span><br />
