Even as some private telecom service providers have raised tariffs by up to 20 per cent, MTNL has said it will not hike rates for its pre-paid and post-paid services. Apart from announcing no tariff hike in its services, it has also announced other new plans like Home Zone Plan, Friend and Family Plan and Independence Day Special Plan. MTNL Executive Director AK Bhargava said in New Delhi that under the Independence Day Special plan, the company will offer limited period edition 64 rupees and 1,508 rupees top-up coupon with talk value of 64 rupees and 1,947 rupees. MTNL operates in Mumbai and Delhi circles.
