The Indian women's hockey team have notched up their best World Cup finish in 32 years. In the classification match at Rosario, Argentina, last night, India recorded a thrilling 4-3 win over South Africa which helped them sign off with the ninth spot in the tournament. Teen sensation Rani Rampal scored twice while Saba Anjum and Jasjeet Kaur Handa struck once each to give India their best finish at a World Cup event since the seventh spot in 1978. For South Africa, the 10th place finish is their best World Cup rank in 12 years since finishing seventh in 1998. In the final tonight, reigning champions the Netherlands are to meet host Argentina.
