In Football, Nepal has defeated East Timor 2-1 in the first leg of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier match played at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu today.Anil Gurung and Jumanu Rai scored the goals at the 14th and 69th minute of the match for Nepal . East Timor succeeded to score a goal against Nepal at the 47th minute of the game. Nepal ranks 147 in the FIFA ranking while East Timor ranks 200. This is for the first time that Nepal has won a world cup qualifying match on home ground.
