A woman was brutally murdered after she resisted an alleged attempt of Molestation and rape by suspected Garo National Liberation Army, GNLA militants at Raja Rongat in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
The woman was at home with her husband and children when four to five suspected armed militants of the GNLA entered their house yesterday. They locked up her husband and five children inside the house and pulled out the woman.
South Garo Hills SP Lakadoar Syiem informed that the mother and relatives of the victim approached the Chokpot police station and reported the matter today morning.
According to SP, this gruesome, cold blooded murder of the women took place in front of her children and it was also reported that the husband of the deceased was confined to the house.
Police recovered a handwritten letter from the place of occurrence where in the GNLA has accused the deceased of being a police informer. Search and combing operations are on to nab the militants in the area.
Meanwhile, night curfew remains in Chokpot region since last Thursday after area witness large scale violence over the police custodial death of one suspect militant on 28th May.
