Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday said that owing to lifestyle changes, diseases which were not prevalent in the region earlier are now becoming common. Speaking at a cancer awareness campaign in Shillong, Dr. Singh said reduced level of physical activities is also responsible for this turn around.<br/><br/>The Minister said with more and more public awareness programmes, quality of life can become better. He also indicated towards rising trend of non-communicable diseases, and urged the people to change their orientation towards health care.
