The Rajasthan Government will provide a monthly scholarship of Rs 500 to one lakh meritorious students of poor families. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced this scheme while replying to the debate on the budget in the State Assembly on Friday. These scholarships will be given for five years.Gehlot also announced purchase of 15 lakh metric tonnes of wheat on MSP next year and the State Government will give a bonus of Rs 100 rupees per quintal to the farmers. He also proposed to constitute a task force for soil conservation and a budget allocation of Rs 20 crore for establishment of small processing units in the fields. Subsidy on cash crops and spices has also been announced.The Chief Minister said that 16,662 small villages will be electrified in next two years and Rs 300 crore would be spent on it.Replying to the debate, Gehlot said that Rs 1,270 crore would be spent on “Apna Khet, Apna Kam” scheme under MGNREGA and more than 24 lakh farmers would be benefited with this scheme. He proposed various irrigation and drinking water projects also and announced that all type of yarn except polyester yarn will be exempted from entry tax.The Chief Minister also announced to start Rs 1-lakh Rajasthan Ratna Awards. This year, the awards will be given to Pt. Vishva Mohan Bhatt, Jagjit Singh, Komal Kothari, Vijaydan Detha, Allah Jilai Bai, Laxmi Kumari Chudawat and Kanhaiya Lal Sethia.Gehlot said the State Government was serious about MGNREGA. He said the state had provided 67,605 jobs in last three years and Rs 96,000 crore would be spent on development in the next Five-Year Plan. He also stated that Rajasthan had been transformed into a revenue surplus state.
