Winter session of Parliament begins tomorrow

Winter session of Parliament begins tomorrow with a heavy government business on the agenda. Government has listed 31 bills for consideration and passing while 23 new bills will be introduced in the session. Among other legislations, government will seek

passage of 16 key economic bills in the session to give a clear signal that it is moving ahead with the second generation financial reforms.

Opposition has finalised its strategy for the session. The NDA had a meeting this evening and the BJP met in the morning. The top brass of ruling Congress also met this evening to chalk out its strategy. The Left parties have already finalised their strategy. The session is likely to be stormy with Opposition keen to bring an adjournment motion on price rise. They will also raise black money, Corruption and Telengana among other issues in the month long session.

AIR Correspondent reports, much talked about Lok Pal Bill is scheduled to come up for discussion after wider consultations by the Parliamentary Standing Committee. Judicial accountibility bill is also slated.

One of the economic front, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Bill is of greater significance. It will pave the way for 26 per foreign investment and encourage the private sector participation in the pension sector.

Government and the ruling Congress has sought Opposition's support for smooth conduct of business in the session but opposition seems to be in no mood to relent. It goes to the credit of the government that it took a number of measures to deal with corruption since moonsoon session of parliament as it led to the disruption of the two houses during that session.

What ever may be the difference of perception on any issue, healthy debate and discussion is better way of putting across the views in a democratic polity. It will be in the larger interest of the country that the issues of their concern are discussed on the floors of the two houses for their greater understanding.
