Winter Session of Delhi Legislative Assembly begins

The Winter Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly on Monday began with customary address of Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khana highlighted the various schemes and projects being implemented by Delhi Government for all-round development of the city.He said that the government has introduced Service Level Agreement for various public services under its ambit to ensure time bound delivery of services to the people. He said that currently 69 services of various departments have been brought under the scheme and othetr services will soon be brought under it. Mr Khanna said that Delhi government is committed to provide preventive and curative health care services to its citizens.He said that a new health scheme Matri Sishu Suraksha Yojna has been launched under which pregnant women will be provided cash assistance of 600 rupees and free medicines and transportation charges at the time of delivery.He said that city government has also accorded high priority in strengthening education, transport facilities and skill development programme for self- employment.AIR Correspondents report that five day Assembly Session on Monday got off to a stormy start when the opposition BJP members raised the issue of corruption and trifurcation of the civic agency, MCD.
