First round matches of the 2016 Wimbledon Tennis Championship began in London today. Women's singles final is on July 9 and the men's singles final on July 10. There are no matches scheduled for the two week tournament on Sunday, July 3. Novak Djokovic of Serbia is the defending men's singles champion. The 20 year old World No.1 Djokovic, is chasing a third successive Wimbledon title. Rafael Nadal is missing from the scene as he is nursing a wrist injury. Garbine Muguruza, Roger Federer and Serena and her sister Venus Williams are among the top men and women players who will be seen in action at the Wimbledon championship. Serena Williams will be eyeing her 22nd Grand Slam in this tournament.
