In the Wimbledon Grand Slam tennis championships in London, American Venus Williams and Russian stars Vera Zvonareva and Elena Vesnina have advanced to the second round of the women's singles. Venus Williams and Elena Vesnina recorded easy straight set wins over their respective opponents. However, Vera Zvonareva was extended to three sets by her rival Alison Riske of the United States. The Russian won 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. Wimbledon is the world's oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament. The All England Lawn Tennis Club is hosting the championship for the 125th time, since the first tournament which was held in 1877. India's Sania Mirza and Somdev Dev Varman will begin their singles campaign tomorrow. In the Men's Doubles, the duo of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi will be seen in action. Somdev Dev Varman and Rohan Bopanna will also be playing their opening doubles matches tomorrow along with their respective partners.
