Chief Election Commissioner S. Y. Quraishi has issued strict guidelines to ensure free and fair Assembly elections in Uttarakhand. During his visit to Dehradun, Dr. Quraishi, accompanied by two other Commissioners, reviewed the election preparations in the state. He also called on Governor Smt. Margret Alva in Rajbhavan on Friday.Briefing the media persons about the preparations, Dr. Quraishi revealed that observer's teams would keep a tab on all activities of the candidates to ascertain if they were indulging in resorting to money and muscle power, including luring the voters with liquor. He said that general observers and expenditure observers of ECI would keep an alert eye on money, muscle power and liquor during the state polls and they would check that any such things do not affect the elections.He also said that a special cell had been assigned to address the grievances of various political parties.
