Wild tiger count shows increasing trend in country: Javadekar

The wild tiger count has shown increasing trend in the country. As per recent estimates, the tiger count was 1411 in 2006, 1706 in 2010 and it was 2226 in 2014 in different tiger landscapes. This was informed by Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today. <br/><br/>Mr. Javadekar said the E-eye system is operational in Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttrakahand, Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh and Kaziranga Tiger Reserve in Assam for tiger tracking. It also acts as an early warning system to track the movement of poachers and intruders before they reach the sensitive areas of tiger reserves.
