In Tamil Nadu, Saturday’s well marked low pressure area over Cape Comorin area has intensified into a depression bringing widespread rains in many parts of the State.Rains have been lashing several coastal and inward areas for two days.The Met department today has forecast rains during the next 48 hours as the system is likely to move west northwestwards bringing more rains off South Tamilnadu Coast.An advisory has been issued to hoist local cautionary signal no 3 at all ports of South Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Minicoy.As the sea condition is rough, fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea for the second day today.Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Thanjavur and Cuddalore have recorded 15 to 20 cms of rainfall in the past 24 hours.Continuous rains for the past two days have thrown normal life out of gear not only in Chennai but also in various places of the State.In Kanyakumari, ferry services to Vivekananda and Tiruvallur statue have been stoppedas the sea condition continues to be rough. In Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and other districts of South Tamil Nadu low lying areas remained inundated as continuous rains gave a tough time for the district administration to clear the waters.Fishermen stayed away from the sea. Students remained at home as schools were closed as a precautionary measure for the second day.In Chennai traffic jams and flooded roads made it difficult for the office goers to continue their routine.Official sources in Railways said that a section of the suburban trains have been cancelled and other trains were running late due to heavy rains.
