A wide mandate has been given to the group of Interlocutors for talks with various sections in Jammu and Kashmir. The focus of the talks will be seeking a political outcome of the Kashmir issue. The group will be going with an open mind without any Predetermined strategy and without imposing any conditions for talks. The group of interlocutors – Dileep Padgaonkar, M.M. Ansari and Radha Kumar, who met the Home Minister in New Delhi today, will be visiting the Srinagar in the next 4-5 days.Speaking to media after meeting, Dileep Padgaonkar said, they will hold the largest possible consultations with all sections of opinion in Jammu and Kashmir. This is to seek as large an area of agreement as one can get to arrive at a comprehensive political settlement of the Kashmir issue.In reply to a question, he said that the group will engage with all political leaders, civil society groups, Hurriyat and even those in jails, students and others. Though one year has been given to them, the group will be giving suggestions as and when they visit the state. Padgaonkar said that Home Minister has assured them that their suggestions will be implemented as early as possible.Before they leave for Srinagar, the interlocutors will also meet the Prime Minister, the UPA Chairperson, the leader of the opposition and Members of the Parliamentary delegations, who visited the state last month.
