Wide-spread resentment against NEET in Puducherry

In Puducherry, there is wide-spread resentment against National level medical entrance examination, NEET. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that there is a general apprehension that Puducherry students will be at loss in the new arrangement. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, cadres of the Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam yesterday held a rail roko at the Puducherry railway station protesting against the recent Supreme Court order on NEET.<br/><br/>Puducherry has been following a system based on Plus Two mark for medical admissions as in the neighbouring Tamil Nadu. <br/><br/>Puducherry has seven private Medical Colleges apart from one each run by Central and State Governments. With National level test, people fear that outsiders will corner majority of seats.<br/><br/>Prof. Ramadass, former MP requested Lt. Governor to examine the situation arising out of the Supreme Court ruling and request the Centre to exempt Puducherry from NEET. <br/><br/>While two regions of the Union Territory follow Tamil Nadu Board, Mahe follows Kerala and Yanam Andhra Pradesh Board adding to the complexity in admissions.
