WI win toss and elect to bat against India in 1st Test at Eden Gardens

The first cricket test of the two-match series between India and West Indies has begun this morning at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. West Indies have won the toss and elected to bat against India .This is Sachin Tendulkar's 199th and penultimate Test match. All India Radio will broadcast a running commentary alternately in Hindi and English on the match. It can be heard from 8.30 AM on Rajdhani and FM Gold channels. Our Sports Desk reports that after serving 24 years in Cricket, legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar will play his farewell series. The penultimate test match will be witnessed at Kolkata's Eden Garden. Kolkata is pulling out all stops to give Tendulkar a grand farewell. The state sports ministry and the Cricket Association of Bengal-CAB, have both made exhaustive arrangements to ensure a memorable send-off. A bigger-than-life wax statue of Sachin has been installed at the entrance of the dressing room. In other preparations 199 kg of rose petals will be showered on the Eden Gardens after the final day's play. The CAB will also present a silver 'banyan tree' with 199 gold leaves, at a felicitation function on the final day. Previous Eden Garden's best memory as everyone remembers "the greatest come-from-behind victory of modern times" against Australia seems to have become the second favourite after this event.
