Openers Chris Gayle and Kieran Powell were the West Indian wickets to fall. Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed the wicket of Gayle, while Mohammed Shami took the wicket of Powell. Earlier, West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. This is the first test of the 2-match series.
