The Allahabad High Court has sought explanation from the Central Bureau of Investigation CBI as to why a chargesheet was not filed in time against the multi crore NRHM scam accused IAS officer Pradeep Shukla. The CBI court at Ghaziabad had granted bail to Shukla on this technical ground. A Division Bench of the court comprising Justices Amar Saran and Pankaj Naqvi has passed an order to this effect on a writ petition filed by Shukla challenging the three FIRs so far lodged against him by the CBI. He has also claimed that the cases were lodged against him without taking prior approval from the Centre and the state government which was mandatory under law.The court has fixed August 30 as next of hearing into the case. Our Allahabad correspondent reports that former Principal Secretary of Medical Health department and Mission Director of NRHM in the state Mr. Shukla was arrested by the CBI in the month of May from Lucknow and was lodged in Dasna jail at Ghaziabad. The CBI court had granted bail to him on the probe agency's inability to file a charge sheet against him within three months.
