Wholesale price-based inflation rose to 0.34 percent in April this year, from minus 0.85 percent in March, amid a rise in prices of vegetables and pulses. Government data showed that food inflation climbed to 4.23 per cent in April, from 3.73 per cent in March. Wholesale inflation has now turned positive after a period of 17 months.Inflation in vegetables increased to 2.21 percent, and in pulses it rose to 36.36 percent. But inflation in onions fell to minus 18.18 per cent and in fruits to minus 2.38 percent in April. Last week, official data had showed a rise in retail inflation to 5.39 percent in April.
