Wholesale price inflation continued in the negative territory in June falling further to – 2.4 percent from – 2.36 percent in May. According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the annual rate of inflation, as per the official wholesale price index, stood at 5.66 percent in the corresponding month of the previous year. Manufacturing product inflation eased further to -0.77 per cent in June as compared to -0.64 in May. Manufacturing products have a nearly 65 per cent weightage in wholesale inflation. The consumer inflation rose to an 8-month high in June. The consumer inflation data was released yesterday. Higher food prices pushed consumer inflation to an eight-month high of 5.4 per cent in June. Food prices were up 5.48 per cent from 4.8 per cent in May.
