WHO to provide $34 million aid for improving health sector in Afghanistan

The World Health Organisation will provide 34 million Dollar aid for improving health sector in Afghanistan in the coming two years. This was announced by Dr. Hussain Al-jawaheri, Representative of the World Health Organisation for Middle East at a joint press conference in Kabul, with Afghan Minister of Public Health Dr. Suraya Dalil. Dr.Al-jawaheri said the aid will help in introducing some new vaccines and meeting the health sector needs.Describing the challenges before the health sector in Afghanistan Dr. Suraya Dalil also highlighted the achievements of her ministry. She said that significant progress has been made in the field of polio eradication. Only three cases of polio have been noticed among the children in Kandhar, Helmand and Farah provinces. Dr. Dalil said the second round of polio campaign will begin from 27th of this month and will continue for three days. She said that polio drops will be administered to 7.8 million children all over the country in this round.
