WHO, European Medicines Agency looking into AstraZeneca vaccine issue

Head of the department of immunisations and vaccines of the World Health Organisation, Dr Kate O'Brien has said, WHO and the European Medicines Agency are trying to investigate the possibility of a link between blood clots and the AstraZeneca shots. The potential side effect has prompted some countries — mostly in Europe — to temporarily suspend use of the AstraZeneca vaccine.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">A WHO committee on vaccines is looking into the issue. The WHO in a statement said, once that review is completed, WHO will immediately communicate the findings to the public.  The WHO further said, it is in regular contact with the European Medicines Agency and regulators around the world for the latest information on COVID-19 vaccine safety. At this time, WHO considers that the benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine outweigh its risks and recommends that vaccinations continue.</span><br />
